Mission Statement

The mission of the Student Representatives in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics is to advance the standard of education and student development in our department.

Goals

To encourage and facilitate regular student dialogue and exchange of ideas with faculty and staff.

To voice student consensus to faculty and the administration regarding departmental policy. This includes, but is not limited to, facilitating the yearly student feedback session and summarizing the suggestions in a report presented to the faculty.

To represent the Epidemiology and Biostatistics student body at monthly departmental faculty meetings and Graduate Student Senate meetings.

To develop resources and sponsor functions that foster professional development and career opportunities.

To provide an educational support system by coordinating mentor programs for first year students, assisting prospective students, and encouraging student-to-student teaching and learning.

To promote student gatherings for social and cultural exchange.

Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics student representatives are elected by the Epidemiology and Biostatistics student body. They serve a one year term. Elections take place at the first departmental seminar in January
